Delos Carleton Emmons (1888-1965) was born in Huntingdon, West Virginia, and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He graduated in June, 1909, and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry. Early assignments included service at the Presidio, San Francisco, California, Fort Gibbon, Alaska, and Plattsburgh Barracks, New York.
